Just a Regular Saturday

Sitting typing blog with hair colour in hair now.

This afternoon I finished reading Reborn by F. Paul Wilson for the third time. It is the 2nd book in the Adversary series and although one of the weakest, it was pleasantly familiar to revisit in the whole scheme of things.

Took a nap with Boy and Sam beside me, played WoW for a couple of hours (visited Arathi Highlands to get the heads of 3 ogres and a human), did some work, then made soup for dinner and settled down to watch The Punisher for the second time.

It is probably one of the most underrated Marvel movie but probably the most powerful and gritty. Frank Castle is, to my knowledge, the only Marvel character in film without special powers and that makes him especially unique.

Tuxie just swatted some invisible bug on the wall and sped off to chase Buffy overturning half the house. Just a regular Saturday at the Five Cats household. :)

Dad's Appointment

We got to the hospital at about 9.45am where my sister and Dad were already waiting to see the doctor. Dad had had his ECG already and finished reading the papers. Nothing much in it, he said. No point buying today.

The doctor was a young chappie who graduated from the UK. He was very thorough and asked Dad lots of questions about his condition. My sister and I filled in the blanks. He said they needed more information and ordered a bunch of tests.

I went to collect Dad's medication (a just-in-case med in case he felt like he was having a heart attack). I made sure Dad remembered the instructions: take one and put it under your tongue if you feel breathless. If it doesn't stop, take another in 5 minutes. If you have to take 3, sit down or lie down and call the ambulance or have someone drive you to A&E. He put the bottle in his pocket.

The nurse was really cool and got us an appointment next week to do his next rounds of tests and also to see the next doctor. We left feeling buoyed and in good hands.

Lunch was vegetarian bee hoon for me at the market. I felt like a better person not having killed any animal to sustain myself for this meal.

My aunt is taking Dad and Mom out for lunch today. I'm sure they'll have a great time.

Sam and Me last November

Rifling through the dustless archives of old pictures, I found this delightful one of me and Sam. He has grown up so quickly. :)

Reluctant to Sleep

It's 2.19am and I am reluctant to sleep. I don't know why. The cats have been fed and locked up for the night and Boy is joyfully pacing around his reclaimed territory. What is it about the weekend that makes one reluctant to turn in?

Which Polyhedral Are You?

I am a d8

No use trying to fight it, you're an eight-sided die, a d8. A fine example of simple elegance, the d8 is one of the least appreciated types of dice, and is often neglected. You are known to be quiet and shy, outward traits that conceal viscous sarcasm and mean wit. You are very smart, yet wise enough to hide your intelligence the quicker they found out how smart you are, the sooner they'll put you to work, which is something you can do without. People call you dark and pessimistic, or moody and cynical. You find little point in arguing.

Take the quiz at dicepool.com

This survey is completely scientific. Despite the mind-boggling complexity of mankind, the billions of distinctly different personalities found on Earth can easily be divided into seven simple categories that correspond to the five Platonic solids, a pseudo polyhedron, and whatever the hell a d100 is. The results of this quiz should be considered not only meaningful but also infallible, and pertinent to your success as a fully realized individual. If you feel the results of this examination do not match your perceived personality, you should take whatever drastic measures are needed to cram your superego back into proper alignment, as described by the quiz results.

And if you believe that, we have some really great critical-hit insurance to sell you.

About Love

If love is not the cure, it certainly can act as a very strong medicine. As John Donne has written, it is not so pure and abstract as one might once have thought and wished, but it does endure, and it does grow.

Frenetic Friday

What a crazy busy day! Three campaigns running at the same time, one on top of the other. I picked up some new skills, worked out more efficient systems, and managed to complete this week's quota thankfully. :D And with a smile.

Doreen and I headed off for pizza and drinks with the guys, and then later headed to NYDC at Suntec for some evil cakes and delightful conversation. We began zoning out shortly after, despite the caffeine and headed home while Jeff stopped by Bala to meet some chick.

The hot shower did wonders. I tried this new Real (?) Source Rose shampoo Sabby recommended and it was lovely. Top that off with the Mint Source bath gel. I felt instantly refreshed. Kaku was sitting just outside the shower, almost as if waiting for me to finish. She looked so cute.

As I rested in bed, I found Boy at my feet and Kaku on the floor just beside me. She said "mmh, mmh" when I petted her before Sam came to groom her forehead. Tux got interested in my disposable contact lense plastic cover. Must be the saline in it. He went berserk over it. I had to call out a warning "Tuxie!" several times.

In the end, I decided to get up and surf for a bit just to put down my thoughts. No WoW tonight although Zomb is busy playing. I am still pretty beat from the rather intense week. It'll be an early night for me. Tomorrow morning we're taking my Dad for his medical. I hope he'll be okay and most importantly, happy.

WoW Chronicles

Today I decided to revisit Stranglethorn Vale to complete a couple of green quests. I've always had a fondness for the area having spent many levels questing and grinding there. And now at level 44, I was fairly safe from the random gank.

I took a short swim across Grom Gol Base Camp and began stalking Jungle Stalkers. After I finished collecting their feathers, I spotted Tethis, the level 43 elite raptor whom I was supposed to slay. He was tougher than I expected. The first was a close battle, with him making the killing blow before me. The second, his friend came along to help and my Wildvine potion failed me. I limped away with 20% durability loss and headed back to Grom Gol to recuperate.

When I was better, I flew to Booty Bay to hand in a quest. Some chappies gave me another couple and I thought I'd stay in the area to complete them. First off, I headed to the shore to kill some Bloodsail Raiders (and Mages) for 15 snuff some chirpy young goblin wanted in exchange for some silver and goodies. There weren't a lot of them (I didn't know then there were more of them in Wild Shore), but between me, a Tauren dude, and a level 41 human allie, I managed to collect all 15 while also heading north to kill some nagas for silver.

When I returned the quests, I received another quest to slay 10 nagas. That went pretty quickly as I had already collected the water eons ago with Zomb. They drop good silver too!

Then it was off slightly north to slay some elder mistvale gorillas for some quest item. A couple of level 40+ allies were on their mounts but largely ignored me. The gorillas put up a good fight and when I got the quest item, I left. While riding back, I realised I was very near Tethis. I could see him hanging with his buddies at his usual spot.

I'd levelled to 45 since the gorillas and decided I would try him again. This time, I switched the superior healings to my stack and stunned him from behind. I used Cold Blood and one superior healing potion. Toward the end, it was him or me and quickly I stunned him before he could hit me again. I slayed him with about 1/5th health remaining and returned to Nesingwary to claim my prize. And he gave me another quest to kill the lion king. Nah, next time. I hearthed back to Ogrimmar.

Back in Ogrimmar, I put up all my Wildvine potions for sale in the Auction House as well as a few greater healing potions. Rather disappointed that the silver tabby was not on auction, I patted my orange tabby and logged off for the night.

After a very fun and productive day at work, I am now off to dinner with Doreen.

Some highlights of my day:

* Jigging to the Sound of Music at Cold Storage.
* Singing Sound of Music songs in Cold Storage.
* Trying Trillian and loving it.
* Many laughs with colleagues.
* Doreen's funny weird joke about toilet paper.
* Reciting cute stories about my cats to an appreciative audience.
* Buying a $10 UV-protection umbrella from Baleno.
* Testing the umbrella and it passed with flying colours.
* Finding out that we have till the end of the month to file taxes! :D

Five Cats Blog: Morning Kitties

In the morning I found Boy sleeping by my feet again. :D I felt his tail as I struggled to get up. When he realised I was awake, he walked around and sat by me. A sleep-deprived arm petted him gently before I mustered all my strength and swung myself off the bed.

Fed the kids. Locked the kitchen door so Boy could eat in peace. When he was done, I opened the door and noticed there were a few scraps remaining that Buffy immediately started eating. Tuxie loomed and stared at me. I said, no, let your sister eat. He mrrowed in protest and scurried away.

Boy wandered back and watched Buffy eat his food. I shooed her gently away and Boy began eating again. It seems to be a habit of his to hoard some food for later, but he must have realised it does no good when three scavengers are waiting to pounce on his food. :o He finished it and walked away.

As I went to put on my shoes, I noticed the four older cats sitting around watching me. I blinked to all of them and waved. Boy and Sam stared wide-eyed. They looked so cute. :D I felt as if I was receiving a mommy's send-off.
