Entry: Blythe Blog: Soft Glue Eyechip Removal Tutorial Wednesday, April 27, 2005

Today I popped Kate's pink eyes out and stuck in the brown ones from Sugarmag. They popped out a lot faster this time and I realised the secret!

Here is a quick tutorial on soft glue eyechip removal:

1. Tie her hair back.
2. Use scotch tape to stick her eyelashes back and completely covered.
3. Remove her clothes.
4. Place her standing in the sink at a 45 degree angle so you don't wet her lashes, press her eyes down a little so you get the top part of the eyechips, and run running water over her eyechips. Try to avoid the top part of her eyechips near the lashes. Use your fingers to wet that part instead. A minute or two should suffice.
5. Take your glue stick (about 1/2cm diameter) and heat it in the fire of your stove.
6. Press the heated end to the eyechip and hold it there for about 2 minutes. When the glue has faded from clear to opaque, hold on for another minute or so. The longer the better.
7. Pull straight out and the eyechip should come out nicely. Use fingers to clear excess glue around the eyes immediately.
8. If it doesn't come out, try from 5. again. If it does, do the same for the other eye.

When placing in the new eyechips, check them first if they have any protruding parts. If they do, try to shave them down gently. And then place them in with the protruding bit facing north so that it will be hidden from view. Gently remove the scotch tape. And voila, new eyechips! :D

Here's Kate with her new grey and brown eyechips! :D
